An overview of Hungary
July 26th 2024
On July 1, Hungary took over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and it will hold this position until December 31. Building on trends from recent years, Hungary's GDP saw a significant rebound after the COVID-19 pandemic's impact lessened. Despite this, the economy experienced four consecutive quarters of contraction from mid-2022 to mid-2023. Following that anticipated recession in 2023, improved growth prospects are expected for 2024.
