International Days

International Day of Education

On the 24th of January we celebrate the International Day of Education. This day celebrates the power of education to build peace and development, as well as its potential to promote gender equality, reduce poverty, and improve health.

Officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, this recurrence provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress that has been made in education around the world and to consider the challenges that remain.

Investing in education, both in terms of resources and in terms of creating and enabling environments for learning, is fundamental. In fact, education has a pivotal role in the economic development of a country and investing in education can lead to long-term employment and higher wages, reducing poverty and inequality.

To invest in people, prioritize education” is the theme of this year’s International Day of Education edition. To celebrate this day, there are many activities, resources, and lesson plans available from UNESCO, which focus on the importance of education, inequality in its access, and its potential to transform lives.
