World Creativity and Innovation Day

On the 21st of April we celebrate the World Creativity and Innovation Day, to raise awareness on the relevance of creativity and innovation as an engine for the economic, social, and sustainable growth of countries.

When talking about “creativity”, we refer to a broad concept that includes artistic expression and problem solving, which can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), expanding opportunities for everyone, including women and youth, and assisting in the eradication of poverty.

The creative economy is considered one of the youngest and fastest growing economic sectors in the world. However, this also involves being one of the most vulnerable sectors that is often overlooked by public and private investment.

Despite this, the sector accounts for 3.1% of global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 6.2% of all employment. Exports of cultural goods and services doubled in value from 2005 to reach US$389.1 billion in 2019.
