International Days

Africa Industrialization Day

On the 20th of November we celebrated Africa Industrialization Day.

Proclaimed in 1989 by the United Nations General Assembly, this day is an opportunity to bring international attention to the challenges faced by African countries regarding their industrialization.
During this time, organizations and governments hold events to raise awareness on the subject.

Africa’s sustained and inclusive economic expansion requires an industrial development that can increase the productivity and also create trained workforce and new jobs. In fact, the ultimate result of industrialization is overcoming poverty by creating wealth. It is therefore necessary to build strong economies in the African nations to protect them from external risks.

The economic growth of Africa should prioritize the reduction of environmental and climate change impacts. In this context, some sectors such as fashion have an important role. In fact, the African textile industry has a high potential, with about $1.3 trillion of continent-wide sales worth.

Thanks to the initiatives promoted by the UN during this day every year, many actors are starting to take part in the development of Africa and hopefully many more will recognize the potential of this continent in the future.
