Import/Export Vanuatu

The Republic of Vanuatu is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, consisting by 83 small islands, 65 of which are inhabited. The archipelago is located about 1,750 km east of Australia, 500 km north east of New Caledonia, west of Fiji and south of the Solomon Islands. It is the number 184 economy in the world in terms of GDP, the number 179 in exports, and the number 193 in imports.Pacific Island countries are some of the most vulnerable in the world to the effects of climate change and disasters. The World Risk Index 2019 ranks five Pacific Island countries among the top 20 most at-risk countries, with Vanuatu at first place. The compounding impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing climate and disaster shocks on Pacific Island countries will pose major challenges for Vanuatu in 2020 and beyond, too.
