Cars' Import-Export: About Germany's Q3 drop

Germany's car exports dropped to 23.1B euros in the third quarter 2021. This translates into a decrease of 17.2% year-on-year (with respect to the third quarter in 2020). This trend is a consequence of the lower amount of pieces exported. Electric cars, instead, recorded strong gains.

The phenomenon has two main causes: the lack of chips in the automotive industry; then, other supply bottlenecks that affect trade, in Germany and not only.

Imports declined even more, with a 29% drop with respect to 2020 Q3.
