Fertilizers: Industry And Trade Data

The mission of the fertilizer industry is to feed the world, and to continue to do that in the next years, even with population rising.

Half of all food consumed today is only able to be grown because of fertilizer.

Fertilizers are divided into three sub categories: macronutrients, secondary nutrients and micronutrients.

In the USA, for those fertilizer companies that reported annual wages paid, their employees make, on average, $67,500 each year.

IFA is the only global association that encompasses companies across the fertilizer value chain. It is made by 430 companies.

According to OEC data, fertilizers in 2019 were the 44th most traded product, with a total trade of $66.6B.

In 2019 the top exporters of Fertilizers  were Russia ($8.85B), China ($7.57B), Canada ($5.93B), United States ($3.92B), and Belarus ($3.3B).

In 2019 the top importers of Fertilizers were Brazil ($8.66B), India ($6.45B), United States ($6.35B), China ($3.49B), and France ($2.07B).

In 2018 the average tariff for Fertilizers was 2.99%, making it the 94th lowest tariff using the HS2 product classification.
