Computers: import and export

Computers are electronic devices that are capable of receiving, processing, and storing information. They are designed to perform a wide range of tasks, from simple calculations to complex operations, and are used in various aspects of our lives. Computers have revolutionized the way we live, work, communicate, and access information. They have become essential tools in fields such as education, business, healthcare, entertainment, and scientific research, enabling us to accomplish tasks more efficiently and effectively. In 2021, the leading countries in terms of exporting computers were China, Mexico, the United States, the Netherlands, and Germany. China stood out as the primary exporter with a significant export value of $192 billion. Other notable exporters included Mexico ($30.3 billion), the United States ($16 billion), the Netherlands ($15.9 billion), and Germany ($14.2 billion).

On the other hand, the United States was the largest importer of computers in 2021, accounting for $102 billion worth of imports. Germany followed with imports totaling $26.4 billion, while Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and Japan were also major importers with respective import values of $20.8 billion, $20.5 billion, and $13.6 billion.

The year 2021 witnessed computers rank as the world's 10th most traded product, indicating their widespread demand and global significance. The total trade value of computers amounted to an impressive $352 billion. Notably, there was a substantial growth rate of 15.4% in computer exports between 2020 and 2021, demonstrating the increasing global demand for these machines. The export value rose from $305 billion to $352 billion during this period.

Despite the significant growth and prominence of computer trade, it represented a relatively small proportion of total world trade, amounting to approximately 0.017%. However, considering the critical role computers play in various industries and everyday life, their trade value remains substantial and reflects their impact on the global economy.
